MY WORST ORDEAL EVER!
Been having on-off fever since last Saturday (31st Oct) till now. Seen doc for 4 times. Took countless number of medicines. Had high fever of 38.7 degrees after I came back from work yesterday. Went to see my GP and he wrote me a referral letter to the A&E. Fever for more than 8 days must go to the hospital for tests to find out what's wrong. I suspected H1N1.

Reached A&E at 9pm++ with baby. My parents were on their way. Took my temperature: 37.8 degrees. They sent me to the fever facility and was isolated in Room 13. Baby and my parents had to wait outside.

Sat on the chair for a very long time. I wasn't wearing my watch and the clock in the room had stopped. There was a chair, sink, tissue dispenser. a small bed with blanket and a trolley table in the room. Air-con was on full blast and I was very very cold. Mum brought my jacket and asked the nurse to pass it to me.

Nothing to do in the isolation room.

The only plus side was I had my phone with me and was busy sms-ing my baby and mum. That kept me entertained. After waiting for about 1 hour, the doctor finally came in. She asked questions regarding my symptoms. She told me to lie on the bed as she needed to take a blood test. She poked my wrist and I felt a burning sensation. After a while she told me "Sorry" and went to poke at my vein near the part of your arm where you can bend it. Another burning sensation and pain. She said to ask the nurse to X-ray my lungs and put me on the drip.

Look at the blood stain on my arm. Arm was numb la.

Asked my parents and baby to go home as I don't know how long do I have to wait. They insisted on waiting for me. Waited and waited for the X-ray. The doctor popped in and asked, "Have you taken your X-ray?" I shook my head.

After about 15 minutes my X-ray was taken. I had to take off my bra for the X-ray but I couldn't put it back on after the X-ray as my arm was hurting. I tried and tried but I couldn't. I had no choice but to tahan the pain and quickly put it on. Ouch!

After another 30 mins the doc popped in and asked, "Eh? The nurse didn't give you the drip?" I said "No." She went off again. I never got the drip at all. At about 11:30PM the doc came in and told me the results. It was not H1N1. I had upper respiratory tract infection. She gave me antibiotics and said I can go home soon. I had to wait for the nurse to come and take out the thingy on my arm.

Waited and waited again for 20 minutes. The nurse came in and asked,"Who put that on your arm? My colleague?" I told her,"No, your doctor." She went silent and went out to get the stuff to remove the thingy.

Finally I can go home. Doc gave me 3 days MC but the date stated 10 Nov, 11 Nov, 12 Nov. When I discharged, it was already midnight 11 Nov. So weird the dates. 10 Nov was already over and I'm in the hospital ma, still need to give MC meh??? Might as well put 2 days 11 Nov and 12 Nov. Lol.

Anyway my fever has subsided but still having runny nose and cough. Hope I recover soon.

Thanks to all who care and love me.

A poem that I wrote for baby on a whim:

[W]ho is that person waiting patiently;
[U]nder the pouring rain;
[W]hat is going through his mind;
[E]xciting thoughts or pain;
[I]nstinctively he looks up;
[Q]uietly staring, looking at his cup;
[U]ndaunted, he smiles;
[A] playful glint in his eyes;
[N]ever give up, never say good bye!

If you look closely, the beginning of the sentence spells his name: WU WEI QUAN

And this is the poem that he wrote for me:

[A] glimpse of what the future has to say;
[M]ay we last and never haze;
[A] glimpse of what i have to say;
[N]ever shall we part and i will stay;
[D]own the aisle as we make our way;
[A] road we take that will tie our fate....

And it spells: AMANDA

So sweet!

I have learnt not to trust anyone at work.... and always be on my guard. I think my rooster too small to peck the gossips and back-stabbers. Need to buy a big and fierce rooster to peck them away!!!

I went to see my tattoo design over the weekend. It was damn chio!! Really chio!! But I didn't take a picture cos I think it's not allowed. Wait till November!! I'll get it soooooon!

Was cam-whoring while baby was driving. Lol

Lol! Smoochy face

My smooch!

Smooch Tigger!

Think my complexion really improved after using Maybelline's new Hydrating Moisturiser. Very light and smells really nice! Keeps my face hydrated and "toink toink". Lol.. and not forgetting taking my supplements of *ahem*.

I am now dreading to go to work!! This is bad!

Zooooom zooooom. 2009 is coming to an end in 2 months time. In 2 months time, my batch of K2 kids will be promoted to Primary One. This current batch (2003 kids) are the same year of kids that I took in toddler class 4 years ago back in 2004 in NUS. So my ah Dwayne, Kennise and Isaac are also going to Primary school soon!

4 years in Early Childhood, and what have I achieved?

I have no idea. What path am I going to take? I am bored teaching, yet can't bear to leave the children. I am not ready to run a centre either. More and more competition coming in from mid-career switch professionals to fresh graduates from Ngee Ann Polytechnic. I feel the need to upgrade myself and take a degree.

For some reason, I love studying. Yes, I do whine and complain about the pile of assignments and dull lectures, but I enjoy researching for journals and articles online and writing reports. I love to write! I might take a degree majoring in Language and Literacy for young children. Sounds fun!

November 26th 2009 will be the day I see my class performing in their graduation concert. I'm sure I will cry... not from sadness, but from the joy and elated moment of seeing the children blossom and grow from a budding seedling, to a beautiful flower. Perhaps, seeing the smiles and laughter, receiving the hugs and hand-written papers/drawings from the children, makes it all worthwhile.....
